Sugar is an epidemic in our modern world.
Would you believe that the average American consumes 2 -3lbs of sugar every week! That easily translates to over 135lb of sugar per person per year. This alarming number is attributed to the wide popularity of sugar s an additive.
Sugar in in just about everything, hiding in various forms.
Sucrose, dextrose and high fructose corn syrups are active ingredients in all processed foods and condiments.
Sugar has radical affects on the body’s insulin levels leaving the body with no fighting chance against the damage. When insulin levels drop so do the levels of growth hormone. These hormones depresses the immune system leaving the body open to a host of maladies and diseases Insulin also inhibits the bodies ability to fight off weight gain and elevated triglyceride levels.
Simply put, the higher the a food is in simple sugars the more likely it will promote fat storage in you body. The stored fat cells play a host to acidic waste that in turn degrade the structure of red blood cells in the blood stream.
From a structural stand point sugar also fights control of the cellular development of the body with vitamin c, When your sugar levels rise they compete with each other when they enter cells.
So if there is a high concentration of sugar already in the blood stream this just allows more sugar into thirsty cells leaving little room for vitamin c . If you do not have the phagocytising effects of vitamin c on your cellular structures you are unable to fend off attacks of viruses and bacteria.
A suppressed immune system has a lower whilte blood cell count so the body becomes unable to protect itself.
Sugar is full of empty calories and is devoid of vitamins and minerals. When your body absorbs sugar it steals vital micro nutrients in order to help you metabolise it into your system. You then create a deficit in these micro nutrients which do not get replaced. This deficiency prevents fat cells and cholesterol to be metabolised leading to high blood pressure and obesity.
Sugar has the ability to raise insulin levels artificially eventually leaving the pancreas dis-functional and the body dependant on sugar. This is commonly referred to as diabetes.
Not only that, simple sugars have been attributed to mood disorders, gallstones, heart disease, asthma, Candida and thrush.
With all of these negative effects that sugar has on the body, is it any wonder that sugar is one of the most acidic things you can put into your body.
Heavy sugar dependency can result in cancer. Cancerous cells thrive on lactic acid. Lactic acid is produced by fermenting glucose that is then transported to the liver. A more acidic PH is produced by this build up of lactic acid in the cancerous cells. The highly acidic nature of cancerous cells is testament to this. The connection of glucose (sugar) and cancerous cells is clearly drawn between sugars and unhealthy acid levels in the blood stream.
Simple sugars are simply poisonous to the body! Sugar will eventually deteriorate the quality of cellular development and suppress the immune system to the point of failure.
Keeping a balanced diet of 80% alkaline and 20% acidic foods.
Introducing supplements and beverages can decrease the risk of disease in the body. When you replace these simple sugars with complex ones or alkaline sweeteners like Stevia, you will decrease your dependence on simple sugars and avoid ill health.
Be aware of food labels and be aware also of the many name that simple sugars come under of hide behind.
Educate yourself on how carbohydrates are broken down into simple sugars in your blood stream. When you are armed with this information you will improve the quality of your life.
