Yeast infections are caused by a certain type of Candida that is present in the environment around us. It is also in our bodies, even when we are not suffering an infection because in small amounts it does have a function. However did you realise certain foods you eat can be blamed for many infections we experience? This is often the case with yeast infection although eating yeast in itself might not cause the infection . When your body is in balance yeast does not get the opportunity to grow prolifically, good bacterias keep it in check.

If your suffer from recurring yeast infections, chronic yeast infection then there are certain foods you should avoid at all costs. Although these foods do not necessarily cause yeast infections to occur, they feed the yeast in the body keeping it alive once it does exist. Here are the 4 foods to avoid by those who suffer problems with yeast.

SUGAR. Yeast eats sugar! This is one of the main things to be avoided, processed sugars especially. Even yogurts that are good for killing yeast can have a lot of sugar in them so make sure you read the labels and only eat natural yogurt. Those sugar cravings yeast infection sufferers get is the yeast begging you to feed it and keep it alive. Be very aware of food labels.

PROCESSED FOODS. Processed foods are not going to be necessarily good for the body. Most of the nutrients and goodness is missing and there will be either added sugar, salt or fat or worse still or three. The best thing you can do for your body is to eat as natural a diet as possible packed with lots of raw fresh vegetables and fruit.

PASTA. Many of us enjoy eating pasta on a regular basis. Especially because the benefits of the Mediterranean diet is to be found every where we look. The problem with most of the shop bought pasta is that it is made from refined flour and water. Refined flour has had all the bran and goodness removed causing problems in the body, including feeding the yeast infection that we are experiencing.

MUSHROOMS. A lot of people do not eat mushrooms but they can be part of a vegetarian diet. Mushrooms are a fungus and the way they grow is not dissimilar to the way candida grows in the body. Quite scary as their web like tentacles can penetrate through tissue and muscle walls, avoiding them you will have better success with getting rid of yeast infections.
I know I said 4 foods to avoid but I could not help adding this: if you suffer regularly from yeast infection you may find you are more uncomfortable when you drink certain alcoholic beverages avoiding alcohol is key as the sugar will feed the yeast, beers, ciders use yeast in the  fermenting process they will add to belly bloat and discomfort
